Christasaid…Both of those books look fabulous! I’m a little ready to move away from the vampire craze, but since it looks like Beth Fantaskey is spreading from vampire to Jekyll & Hyde, I applaud her & will keep an eye out for these books. What I love most about JESSICA’S GUIDE TO DATING ON THE DARK SIDE by Beth Fantaskey is that it doesn’t take itself seriously.
Jessica’s narrative is interspersed with Lucius’s hilarious letters to his Uncle back in the old country, and his take on 21st century American culture should make anyone laugh out loud. There may be a few more comparisons but what does it matter, really? Fact is, when we like something we always want more of it.
Or if it doesn’t do that, then at least it will leave you smiling, biting your nails, and reading far into the night. Thankful to Ms.Fantaskey, I’d like to express my elation by saying that I was quite glaringly, obviously wrong. The only vampire book I’ve really enjoyed until now is Sucks to Be Me The All-True Confessions of Mina Hamilton, Teen Vampire, which makes fun of the conventions of the genre. As for the prose, well, it’s decent, moves at a fast pace, is mostly dialogue, and has some suspense.
She saw his fangs twice and still didn’t come to the conclusion that he was a god damn vampire!! This girl would not be a great detective or police officer. Jessica in the beginning was kind of unlikable. I didn’t really like the whole not wanting someone until other people want that person. It just rubbed me the wrong way so many times.. It was like nails on a chalkboard.
Things get even more complicated when a new guy – terrifying, tough, sexy Jared Kovach – comes to school. A boxset collection of the first three books in the Chronicles of Kerrigan Prequel series! Fall in love with WJ May’s international best-selling series. Learn how it all began…before the magic of tatùs. Until one day, something changed; stripped his innocence away. The hole inside making space for the devil to come and play. JESSICA’S GUIDE TO DATING ON THE DARK SIDE has become one of my new favorite young adult vampire novels. Jessica has always known she is adopted. Her parents, the Packwoods, have told her the story of how they, as anthropologists, were studying her family in Romania when they were attacked. Jessica’s birth parents begged the Packwoods to take their daughter to safety.

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by this book. I found it to be a fresh and original take on the “teen-vampire-paranormal-love” genre. The characters were fresh and not so stereotypical of this kind of story. The story had more depth than I expected, especially as it progressed to it’s conclusion. The writing is good, including meaningful dialogue, which allowed to highlight that the characters also had depth and were multi-demensional. Overall, this story won me over and made me care about the characters.
Anonymous said…I’m pretty much addicted to any paranormal or urban fantasy books with most supernatural beings, both YA and Adult. Kristisaid…These both sound like good books – I will have to bring the vampire one to my oldest daughter’s attention. A Life Bound By Bookssaid…I read JG right after it came out. I did enjoy the book, just felt that it should have been a series or maybe a few more pages.

In this not-so-brave new world, two young people struggle to carve out their own space. Pre-publication book reviews and features keeping readers and industry influencers in the know since 1933. First of all, before you are deceived, this title does not match the theme of this book. It began as a light-hearted read, comical even, but then it just became a dark, angst volturi-twilight moody thing. I literally watched the tone change right before my eyes, like a gray scale being turned down to its darkest.
I’m not sure if that is true, but judging by the content, it is how I felt. Now I will explain why it has its ups and down. I’m not reading the second book in the series.. However different from the BTB, I didn’t hate this book and would probably have enjoyed it when I was a new reader. Lucius and Jessica have been promised to each other since birth to keep the vampire peace in Romania. But Jessica was sent off as a baby and grew up in America not knowing any of her family’s History, nor does she know she is a vampire.

I highly recommend this book and I will definitely check out what Beth Fantaskey writes next. Their marriage would end a centuries-long war between the two families and ensure peace for all their vampire relatives. When she gets to school, he’s there in her English Lit class, an exchange student www.datingwebreviews.com/fetish-com-review from Romania called Lucius Veldescu, domineering the teacher and, again, watching her. And her parents pull out a musty old scroll to prove it. From the title and genre, I thought I had this book figured out. Just another teen vampire romance novel to go along with all the others.
Origionally purchased for a swap, I took a peek at the first chapter to see if it was worth reading. I’m the author of the YA novels Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, Jessica Rules the Dark Side, Jekel Loves Hyde and Buzz Kill. The undead can really screw up your senior year . Attempting to fill her birth-mother’s vampire shoes, Jessica does her best to stand at her husband’s side as he attempts to… Now, if there was going to be a sequel, that would change things up quiet a bit. I could somewhat understand the ending, just not how rushed it seemed. I didn’t really give out any spoiler so feel free to try the book yourself and maybe think better of it.
